Aston University and Max Healthcare India unite to advance global health research

Aston University has announced a major international partnership with Max Healthcare India, one of the country’s largest and most respected hospital networks. The two organisations have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will establish a joint platform for research, training and knowledge exchange, with the aim of improving healthcare delivery and advancing clinical science across borders.

The MoU was signed by Professor Osama Khan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at Aston University, and Dr Vinita Jha, Director – Research & Academics at Max Healthcare, during a visit by the Max Healthcare delegation to Birmingham. The partnership reflects a shared ambition to bring together academic innovation and clinical excellence to tackle the world’s most pressing health challenges.

22 healthcare facilities

Max Healthcare Institute Limited operates 22 healthcare facilities with around 5,000 beds across India. Its network includes advanced tertiary and quaternary care hospitals in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Mohali and Dehradun. Renowned for its commitment to clinical standards, Max Healthcare combines state-of-the-art technology with patient-centred care across a broad range of services.

The collaboration will see Aston University and Max Healthcare engage in joint research initiatives, with a focus on both communicable and non-communicable diseases. Projects will range from basic science and translational research through to clinical applications, and the partners intend to explore opportunities for joint funding. Importantly, the collaboration is not limited to the laboratory; it also includes staff training, academic exchange, fellowships and joint conferences to promote communication between scientists, clinicians, data analysts, public health experts and industry professionals.

“The collaboration between Max Healthcare and Aston University represents a significant step towards integrating clinical excellence with academic innovation,” said Professor Osama Khan. “This partnership aims to foster advancements in healthcare through joint research and educational initiatives. Bridging continents and disciplines, Max Healthcare and Aston University unite to pioneer transformative healthcare solutions, blending India’s clinical expertise with the UK’s academic innovation to shape a healthier global future.”
