Faster Answers: The Future of Bladder Cancer Diagnosis

Bladder cancer is a good example of a wider challenge facing the NHS. Patients need faster answers, specialist diagnostic capacity is under pressure, and even where new approaches have strong evidence behind them, moving from evaluation into routine care can still be slow.

Hosted at Nonacus’ Birmingham HQ during West Midlands Life Sciences Week, Faster Answers: The Future of Bladder Cancer Diagnosis will bring together clinical, patient, research and policy voices to explore what needs to change.

The afternoon will include small-group tours of our laboratories, the launch of our new Faster Answers impact report, and the latest real-world evidence for GALEAS Bladder, alongside a chaired panel discussion on what better triage could mean for patients and the NHS, and what still gets in the way of wider adoption.

The panel will be chaired by Preet Gill MP, former Health Innovation Minister, and speakers will include:

  • David Lawson, Department of Health and Social Care
  • Jayne Douglas-Moore, University Hospitals of Leicester
  • Professor Rik Bryan, University of Birmingham
  • Mary Suphi, British Association of Urological Surgeons
  • Gareth Collett, bringing lived experience and bladder cancer advocacy

The discussion will look at how bladder cancer pathways can give patients faster answers, make smarter use of specialist capacity, and help evidence-backed diagnostics move more consistently into routine NHS care.

There will also be time for audience Q&A, networking, drinks and light refreshments during the afternoon.
